PBS Presentation

The PBS presentation raised numerous issues on the use of the internet.  One person said, "Everyone can use it and create their own society". This was a common theme in many of the issues. Another said of the internet, "it's a world largely hidden from parents by teenagers." This problem culminated in the death of a 13 year old boy who had been cyber-bullied.

The online material can be graphic and include online relationships the presentation said. One woman was concerned that a predator may or may not be looking for her child. She also complained noone was in charge and how it was out of the reach of parents.

However one young adult male said he needed to use the internet.  On an unrelated note a person from an uncertain background said, "on the internet we need to be entertainers".

More negatives for the internet included it being the reason kids were not paying attention in class. Plagiarism also becomes a problem with the internet.

Myspace and Facebook devour lives. So does videogaming. They can literally become that person's real life.

As previously mentioned stalking was an issue brought up a few times. The worst effect of the internet was that it showed a little boy how to tie a noose to hang himself with.
